Ofen Pass (Pass dal Fuorn)

Road 28 climbs from Zernez in the Engadine over the 2149m Ofenpass and down into Val Mustair near the Italian border, threading the only public road through the Swiss National Park. It is more flowing than knotted, with long forested sweepers and high meadows rather than a wall of hairpins, but it is consistently listed among the calmer scenic alpine drives. The setting is one of the most strictly protected landscapes in the Alps. Mind the wildlife on the carriageway at dawn and dusk, the steep pitches near the summit, and the strict no-stopping rules inside the park.
