Sedlo Pass
R-16Zabljak to Pluzine
Montenegro’s highest paved road, a remote serpentine over Durmitor between Zabljak and Pluzine.
The R-16 over Sedlo is generally regarded as the highest paved mountain road in Montenegro, crossing the Durmitor massif at about 1907 metres between Zabljak and Pluzine. It is a long, lonely ribbon of asphalt past Bobotov Kuk and alpine meadows, narrow in places with few barriers. The pass is only open roughly May to October and snowbound the rest of the year. Mind the narrow unlit sections, the long stretches without guardrails, and the seasonal closure.
