The Biokovska cesta is widely cited as the highest road in Croatia, climbing from the park gate above Makarska to the summit of Sveti Jure at around 1762 metres. It is a single narrow asphalt lane threaded through roughly 27 switchbacks, with the glass Biokovo Skywalk perched about halfway up and the Adriatic falling away on one side. Reports consistently describe it as not for nervous drivers, since oncoming traffic forces one car to pull over. Mind the unprotected drops, the blind one-lane bends, and the gate-controlled access with timed entry.
