Bovey Tracey to Haytor
B3387Bovey Tracey to Haytor Vale · Devon
The B3387 climbing from Bovey Tracey up to the granite stacks of Haytor and out onto open Dartmoor towards Widecombe-in-the-Moor.
The B3387 is one of Dartmoor's best-loved climbs, rising west out of Bovey Tracey through woodland before bursting onto open moor beneath the unmistakable granite tors of Haytor Rocks. From there it crosses a stretch of unfenced moorland by Hemsworthy Gate before dropping towards the postcard village of Widecombe-in-the-Moor. It is a popular road that gets busy on summer weekends and around the Haytor car parks, so it is more of a scenic moorland drive than an empty blast. The moorland section is unfenced with grazing livestock. Mind heavy visitor traffic near Haytor, ponies and sheep on the open moor, and walkers crossing near the rock car parks.
