One of Turkey’s highest paved roads, the D925 scales the Ovit Pass at 2,690 m through the cloud-forest flanks of the Kaçkar Mountains.
The D925 climbs from the Black Sea lowlands near İyidere through dense laurel and rhododendron forest before breaking above the treeline onto the bare alpine slopes of Mount Ovit at 2,690 m. The pass section runs about 18 km with gradients touching 16%, with sweeping views across the Kaçkar range. A long tunnel opened in 2018 now carries most traffic, leaving the original mountain road quiet.
