Passo di Pramollo
SP110Pontebba to Passo di Pramollo (border) · Friuli-Venezia Giulia
The Italian side of the Nassfeldpass, a steep, demanding 1530m climb from Pontebba up through tight hairpins to the Austrian border in the Carnic Alps.
From Pontebba in the Valcanale the SP110 attacks the 1530m Passo di Pramollo, the Nassfeldpass on the Austrian frontier, with very nice tarmac, a wall of tight hairpins and ramps reaching toward 14 percent. It is one of the most demanding climbs in Friuli, twisting up through the Carnic Alps to the ski-station saddle that straddles the border into Carinthia. Quieter and rawer than the Dolomite passes, and a real treat on the Italian flank. Mind the very steep narrow ramps with limited barriers, summer day-tripper traffic to the resort, and a road surface that deteriorates after winter.
