17-Mile Drive
Pacific Grove gate to Highway 1 gate
A private toll road through Pebble Beach, open to the public for a fee per car. This entry covers about 10 miles from the Pacific Grove gate, past Point Joe and the Lone Cypress, to the Highway 1 gate.
17-Mile Drive is a private road run by Pebble Beach Resorts and open to the public from sunrise to sunset for a gate fee per car; motorcycles are prohibited. The signed tour is billed as 17 miles with 17 numbered stops, including inland viewpoints at Shepherd’s Knoll and Huckleberry Hill near the Highway 1 gate. This entry traces the main run from the Pacific Grove gate to the Highway 1 gate, about 10 miles on OpenStreetMap geometry. From Pacific Grove the road passes the Inn at Spanish Bay, then follows the shore past the Restless Sea and Point Joe, China Rock, Bird Rock and Seal Rock to Fanshell Beach and Cypress Point. It turns back through Crocker Grove to the Lone Cypress, which is believed to be at least 250 years old, then on to the Ghost Trees at Pescadero Point and the Lodge at Pebble Beach above the 18th hole of Pebble Beach Golf Links. From the Lodge it climbs through the Del Monte Forest to the Highway 1 gate. A red-dashed line marks the tour route, and the side streets are neighbourhood roads.
