Allgäu leg of the German Alpine Road past the Großer Alpsee, Oberstaufen to Immenstadt.
This western Allgäu section of the B308, part of the Deutsche Alpenstraße, runs from Oberstaufen east past the Großer Alpsee to Immenstadt, with rolling curves, alpine-meadow scenery and the Allgäu and Vorarlberg peaks as a backdrop. It is one of the most charming of Germany's federal roads, though this stretch flows more than it twists. It is busy with tourers heading for Oberjoch. Mind the lakeside tourist traffic and parking near the Alpsee, slow campers on the climbs, and abrupt village speed limits.
