Cliff-edge coast road above the Pacific Ocean
The Suhua Highway runs along Highway 9 between Su'ao and Hualien, much of it cut into steep cliffs high above the Pacific. The standout stretch passes the Qingshui Cliffs, where the road clings to a cliff face dropping roughly 800 metres to the sea. Mind the cliff drops, landslide-prone slopes and heavy truck traffic.
